🎲 How to play Echoes in the Deep solo missions, part 1

Hello everyone!

We’ve received quite a few questions about how to play the Solo RPG part of our new Echoes in the Deep Kickstarter project. Here’s a short article that will hopefully shed some light on it for you.

During the Echoes from the Deep adventure, you play as Peridot the thief, who roams every corner of the Free City to prepare his revenge against one of the thieves’ guilds.

This is the main storyline, written in numbered paragraphs like traditional gamebooks. But he’ll need allies and resources, which is why, at five points in the story, you’ll be prompted to play these “solo missions” that change up the gameplay.

Once you’ve earned a minimum amount of reputation (the equivalent of 5 missions, though you can play many more if you wish), you can return to the choose-your-own-path narrative.

1) WHERE AM I?

Choose or randomly draw one of the iconic locations from the Free City, among the first five districts (each solo phase unlocks 4 new districts, which grant advantages if you recruit allies who live there).

The city map and stickers included in the box will help you track your conquests! The deck of cards lists all the items and locations featured in the book’s tables—you can draw from it or use it as inspiration without needing any dice.

Each solo phase grants access to 5 new missions, which you can replay as many times as you like afterward.

For example, I choose the Old Necropolis district. I read its description to get a feel for the mood and history of the place:

"The Old Necropolis, nestled against a cliffside, is an ancient burial site housing millennia-old catacombs and layers of historical ruins. It was once the religious center of the Cyfand culture, then of the empire that followed. Today, it is home to the Garden of Steles and brims with macabre legends and secret tunnels. You’ll also find the temple of the God of Death and a large castle belonging to the noble Graey family."

I don’t forget to choose my gear for the mission. I’m allowed a certain number of items (3 common items, 3 magical ones) that grant bonuses to my skill checks and magical effects. I could even call on an ally for an advantage on my rolls… if I had one, which I don’t—yet!

Oh, and I take out my lovely notebook to write down my adventure ;)

2) WHAT AM I DOING HERE?

In this district, 10 missions are available, with varying difficulty levels. I choose one of the first 5 missions, which have "average" difficulty (this determines the target score for skill checks and the number of rewards I can earn—here, 2).

To raise the stakes, each mission offers 3 types of rewards (out of about a dozen possible), along with gold coins that can be used to gain allies, build your reputation, and progress in the main storyline. I must choose two rewards before starting the mission.

The three rewards for this mission are "Information, Blackmail, or Rumor." Let’s go with “Rumor,” defined as "Spreading damning or misleading information to weaken or distract your enemies." I also choose “Information,” to obtain some juicy secrets (that I will myself improvise).
Here’s the mission "prompt" that tells me what I’m doing here:

"You catch sight of an acolyte of the God of Death meeting with a hooded figure as they begin their descent into the catacombs. Who is this mysterious person? What are they scheming?"

Since I chose “Rumor” and “Information” as my rewards, I already imagine that if I follow these two figures into the catacombs, I might gather enough to accuse my enemies of looting graves or prove that they’re desecrating ancestral tombs—perfect for a diversion!

In short, those are the questions I’ll need to answer using my imagination. Unlike the main story, there are no numbered paragraphs or pre-written choices guiding the consequences of my actions or the answers to those questions. It’s up to me to invent them based on the Dictionary of Eana or other book content, and to structure my story according to the three phases of a mission (which are always the same—we’ll get to that later).

If you feel overwhelmed by the richness of the lore, don’t worry—you won’t need a huge book by your side. The Dictionary of Eana Kickstarter Stretch Goal is just being added as an appendix, and if you’re both the GM and the player, no one’s going to scold you for deviating from official lore. After all, this is Peridot’s subjective tale—he might get things wrong or exaggerate!

3) THE 3 STAGES OF MY MISSION

a) Preparation

How do I observe the scene and prepare my move? What tools or strategies do I use? To find out if I succeed, I can attempt up to 3 skill checks listed for each mission. For this one, the available skills checks are: History, Insight, Investigation.

I choose Investigation. Let's say I try to recall where I’ve seen the strange symbol carved into the figure’s hood (I made up this symbol—because in this game mode, I’m free to improvise or draw inspiration from details found in Echoes or other FATEFORGE books).
If I had chosen History, maybe I’d have known the entire story of the catacombs and all their secret hiding spots.
I roll the dice... oof, a decent roll but still a failure on Investigation! According to the rules, a failed check costs me some gold coins—representing lost gear or the need for medical care—but I can try again using another skill. If I fail all three, the mission ends in failure.

Time to write in my notebook: "I tried to remember where I had seen this moon-and-skull symbol before—engraved on the mysterious man’s hood. No luck."

Now I use my magic item enchanted bones, which lets me automatically succeed on an Insight check. Success! But I can only use this once, so I cross it off my gear list.

I write: "But watching how expertly they navigate the tunnels, I crush my baby dragon bones to dust to receive some wisdom from the dead... and suddenly, it hits me: these men come here regularly. The priest is their guide, and he’s clearly involved in some shady clergy corruption schemes."

I earn 10 gold pieces for each successful check—I can justify that however fits the mission: loot, bribes, lucky finds, etc.
The next two phases also offer 3 possible skills checks each. I must succeed at at least one check per phase to complete the mission and earn the rewards.
Remember: I lose gold for each failed check, so every roll is a risk—but that’s part of the fun!

b) Execution

How do I follow them? How do I spy on them and obtain the rumor I’m after?
Available skills: Deception, Sleight of Hand, Stealth. I pick Sleight of Hand. Roll… failure! Aargh. I lose 10 gold pieces and an item from my inventory (yep, a failed check in this phase costs both).

I write: "As the two figures perform a forbidden ritual in a tomb, I sneak closer and try to snatch a scroll from one of their pockets. But just then, a rat squeaks nearby. Startled, the figure shifts—and I miss the scroll. Worse still, I don’t realize it right away, but my magic ring is gone... stolen by that damned rat."

Next, I try Deception—success, and +10 gold! I write: "Time to bluff. In a deep, cavernous voice, I call out from the shadows, pretending to be a guardian spirit. I command them to drop their cursed scrolls and flee, or face a ghostly wrath! And these fools actually believe me—they run off, leaving their scrolls behind..."

c) Escape

Every mission ends with me fleeing. After all, I’m Peridot the thief—not exactly a frontline fighter. Best to get out fast and unseen.
Available skills: Arcana, Religion, Perception

I choose Arcana—it evokes the supernatural, not just spellcraft. We’re in the catacombs of an heroic fantasy city, after all...
Let’s say that after stealing the scroll and posing as a ghost, a real ghost appears, grateful that I scared off the intruders. It decides to help me escape—and I succeed the check!

"Suddenly, just as I tuck the scroll (and proof of their crimes) into my pocket, a ghost materializes before me. I freeze. But instead of punishing me, it silently gestures toward a tunnel with its skeletal, spectral hand. It’s guiding me out! I follow it through winding halls lined with statues of the God of Death. Finally, I emerge—alive and triumphant. In my hand, I still hold the scroll (the Rumor) and the name and title of the priest (the Information) whispered to me by the ghost."

🔥 MISSION COMPLETE!

Mission accomplished: I succeeded in at least one skill check in each of the three phases. I didn’t gain much gold overall and I lost an item... but the story was well worth it!

You’ll generally need to complete at least 5 missions to return to the main paragraph-based storyline—but you can do as many as you like. With 20 locations in the Free City and its undergrounds and 10 missions per location, that gives you 200 mission options!

And as you’ve probably realized, every mission is highly replayable—your choices of skills and your improvisation can completely change the story each time.

We hope it's clearer for all of you who didn't know how to play the Solo RPG part :) Don't hesitate to ask us more things in our Discord.

🎲 Echoes in the Deep: a solo experience in the world of Eana!

We grew up with Choose Your Own Adventure books/Fighting Fantasy and all the many variations that followed. These classics sparked our passion for storytelling and imaginary worlds.

Echoes in the Deep is our tribute to those beloved books, a new adventure designed to rekindle the nostalgic experience of solo gamebooks, enhanced with the depth of a sandbox solo RPG and the immersion of a visual novel!

📘 A gamebook that blends a Choose-your-own-adventure with a Solo RPG Mode

You play as Peridot, a thief working in the Free City. Before turning over a new leaf, you have one last score to settle—with the gang leader herself! Alongside your loyal companions—a dwarven warrior, a gnome mage, and a half-elf ranger—you’ll delve into the depths of the largest city in the world of Eana to carry out your revenge!

This gamebook blends two pillars of interactive storytelling to create a truly unique solo experience:

  • - A classic choose-your-own-adventure tale, with a narrative made up of numbered sections and multiple branching paths. You’ll embark on a grand journey where your decisions have lasting consequences. Your reputation will rise or fall depending on your choices, unlocking or closing off parts of the story!

  • - Side quests in solo RPG mode. At several points in the story, you can explore the Free City to recruit new allies or gather valuable resources. Tools and random tables will help you create and narrate these missions with no GM and no pre-written script, just your imagination and creativity.

The gamebook uses a simplified version of the Fateforge/5E OGL ruleset, adapted for solo play. One key feature is your Loyalty score, which significantly affects how other characters respond to you. Some will help, others will turn away, depending on whether your Loyalty is high or low.

🎮 The Visual Novel : Echoes in the Deep

Each book comes with a Steam key for the Echoes in the Deep visual novel.

This video game takes place after the events of the gamebook. You’ll continue Peridot’s journey alongside your companions, exploring a new side of the story. Visit eight iconic locations in the Free City and face a host of new threats…

The visual novel is an optional, standalone experience, but it adds another layer to your adventure and lets you continue the story!

Like the gamebook, the visual novel uses mechanics from the 5th edition. If you’ve played Fateforge before, you’ll feel right at home!

As in the gamebook, your Loyalty score matters: your actions and dialogue choices will affect your relationships with your allies. A negative score can block certain dialogue options, so choose wisely!

Open the gates of the Free City!

Echoes in the Deep is our love letter to the classic gamebooks, a solo experience like no other. Don’t forget to sign up on the Kickstarter page so you don’t miss the launch on June 10 and claim your early bird reward!

🐉 Results of the Survey + Next Steps of the Journey!

Hello to our amazing community!

At the end of September,
we shared a major update on our book collectionsEncyclopedia, Creatures, and, of course, Fateforge — along with a historical overview, future plans, and a community survey.

Today, it’s time to dive into the results!

Nearly 1,000 of you participated in the survey, and we’re incredibly grateful! Beyond answering the questions, you also left many comments, suggestions, and ideas – all of which have inspired us immensely.

Kickstarter has always been an incredible journey, shared with you, our community, since our very first campaign. Your contributions have been a cornerstone of this project, and that continues to this day! Let’s jump in, starting with the most immediate news: the upcoming Kickstarter campaign in January!

🪄 Secrets of Magic: your lore and magic toolbox

Several recurring requests emerged from your feedback:
• More lore, lore, lore!
• Expanded gameplay options for your campaigns
• Faster releases!

After much discussion within our team, here’s how we plan to address these moving forward, starting with the upcoming Kickstarter campaign!

Our new book is now officially titled Secrets of Magic! Just like Encyclopedia and Creatures, it opens a new collection of toolboxes for 5E—this time focused on magical lore and wonders. This book is also the seventh in the Fateforge series and will explore the world of Eana in even greater depth.

• We’ve reworked Secrets of Magic into a true toolkit centered around magic, featuring much more lore and ready-to-use gameplay options. Whether you play in Eana or another setting, this book offers plenty of new tools for players to explore the wonders of magic.

• Based on your feedback, we’ve fine-tuned the content to enhance player options, such as archetypes, potion crafting, and sublimation, as well as lore for spellcasters seeking a deeper understanding of their art.

• Highlights include expanded mage lairs, enchanting rules, new spells, and magical items. Stretch goals from the campaign will allow us to expand the book even further with additional geomagic, sublimation options, and archetypes. You can discover its key elements on the prelaunch page.

Here is the Fateforge cover by Nicola Bernardelli:

🔮 The Future of the Fateforge Collection

Your enthusiasm for more content has been heard loud and clear. However, increasing the number of yearly releases would require reshuffling our project priorities.

First of all, based on your enthusiasm, we’ve adjusted our 2025-2026 schedule to give this collection the spotlight it deserves. That said, we need to carefully manage our design timelines to ensure we present you with the most finalized projects possible, minimizing delivery delays.

The success of the January campaign will directly impact the release schedule. Your support has always been the driving force behind this studio, and the results of this campaign will shape the future of our 5E collections!

Here's what we can say about the next steps :

🎲 Echoes in the Deep: 5E Solo TTRPG & Visual Novel

We’ve been working for several months on a SOLO role-playing project for 5E, designed as both a book and a visual novel-style video game. And the project is nearing completion! The demand for a solo 5E-compatible game came through strongly in the survey, and we hope you’ll love it! While the two stories are independent, they’re interconnected, offering you a solo adventure through the underground depths of Eana’s largest city. Get ready to explore the depths of the Free City !

This project will be featured in a Kickstarter campaign and you can already sign up for the prelaunch page. The visual novel also has its own Steam page—so don’t forget to add it to your wishlist!

😈 Powers Beyond

The eighth book in the series, Powers Beyond, will complete the second tetralogy. This book reveals the secrets of Eana’s powers and their domains within the planes, from fiends to celestials, the Moons, and the Forge of Destiny – perfect for epic, high-level adventures!

Clearly, this will be a complete toolbox for feeding all your campaigns with epic new challenges! The creation of the book is well advanced, but then there will be all the translation work to do. We are going to do everything we can to bring the release date forward!

⛵️Exploring Eana!

Another key factor in reshaping Secrets of Magic and advancing Powers Beyond was your strong interest in exploring Eana and gaining more ready-to-use lore and options for your campaigns, such as the Encyclopedia and Creatures series.

This was nearly tied with another result in the French community (we’ll get to that!) and topped the charts among the English-speaking community. Across both groups, over three-quarters of respondents rated this direction highly, with scores of 8 or more out of 10.

We’re thrilled by your enthusiasm! With almost a decade of development behind us, we’ve accumulated a wealth of material about this universe, and we’d love to fulfill our original vision: exploring all the civilizations of this world.

This will undoubtedly include new volumes of Encyclopedia and Creatures. We’re also considering a smaller Atlas format, focused on specific regions and combining sections from both Encyclopedia and Creatures.

We’d love your feedback: which civilization are you most excited to discover? What format appeals to you most? A new survey is in the works to explore these ideas further.

We recognize that completing this vision will require a steady release schedule. That’s where you come in—the success of the upcoming Ulule campaign will play a decisive role in shaping Eana’s future!

📖 An Official Campaign?

Highly requested, a grand campaign ranked second in the community vote. Once again, over three-quarters of respondents gave this idea a score of 8 or more out of 10. To recap, here’s what we proposed:

"A grand, epic campaign! Will your characters ascend the legendary steps to the Fateforge? Will they face the schemes of Canker or the archdevil Antheros? Or will they embark on a great journey across Eana to uncover its mysteries? The goal is to craft an expansive campaign that makes full use of the content from the books released so far."

As of now, development on such a campaign hasn’t begun. That said, we already have about a dozen books at various stages of completion! Even so, we hear your passionate request loud and clear—it’s now a central topic in our discussions.

We’re exploring the possibility of releasing episodes through our next Kickstarter campaigns, potentially starting with January’s. However, this requires careful consideration and will depend heavily on the outcome of Secrets of Magic. This is a project where community input could play a significant role, as we’d be starting from a blank slate. That’s why our next survey will include a dedicated section to better understand your aspirations and explore what’s feasible.

🤔 Fateforge Corebooks: Revised Editions

We proposed a revised edition of the core books, Adventurers and Grimoire, but it’s clear this project gathered the least interest among both the French and English-speaking communities. While many sections of these books could benefit from updates based on our accumulated experience and community feedback, it’s clearly not a priority for you.

Several participants suggested an intriguing alternative: keeping the core books as they are but producing a standalone errata to address specific corrections. We also wanted to gauge your interest in aligning with the updates from D&D’s “2024 Edition.”

Your response is clear, and we’ll respect the community’s wishes. For now, and until further notice, no new edition of Fateforge is planned. Adventurers and Grimoire will remain the foundational books for the next cycle of the series!

🔥 Spin-offs from Fateforge: The Inner Sun and Broken Forge

The results were less conclusive, and these two projects garnered significantly less interest compared to exploring Eana or the official campaign. But what are they about?

☀️ The Inner Sun

• A hard sci-fi spin-off of Fateforge
• The pitch: Eana’s universe in the future, a space opera featuring key themes like interstellar travel via the Ateaks, the Sublime, and its evolution.
• Inspirations include Stargate and Annihilation.

🔨 Broken Forge

• A post-apocalyptic urban spin-off of Fateforge
• The pitch: The Fateforge and its moon Eternity have fallen onto Eana, causing catastrophic destruction. From the ashes rises NEO FREE CITY, a cosmopolitan megacity symbolizing new hope.
• Inspirations include District 9, Blade Runner, and The Road.

Only 20% of respondents in the French-speaking community and 25% in the English-speaking community rated these projects 8 or higher. This falls far short of the 75% support for Eana exploration and the official campaign! Based on your comments, it’s clear that you want us to prioritize fully developing Eana and an eventual official campaign over spin-offs. And you’re right—we can’t do it all.

While it was valuable to gather your thoughts, these projects are on hold for now. We’re fully committing to Eana and exploring the possibilities for that much-anticipated official campaign!

😍 Your Favorite Books!

Let’s end with a fun statistic. For both communities, the first Encyclopedia takes the top spot! In the English-speaking community, the first volume of Creatures is the second favorite, while in the French-speaking community, it’s Encyclopedia 2: Netherworld. Interestingly, in both cases, the third spot goes to “I LOVED EVERYTHING” ^^.

These preferences align closely with your other wishes and will inspire the future direction of the series.

🗣️ A New Survey: Exploring Eana, the Official Campaign, and Beyond

We’re preparing a new survey to fine-tune our next steps with your input. In the meantime, we’re polishing Secrets of Magic ahead of the January campaign launch!

Once again, thank you so much for your passion and support, onward to the next chapter of the Fateforge saga!

— Nel, Destiny, and the entire Fateforge team

📚 A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FATEFORGE ERA

The Fateforge community has grown a lot, and we’re taking advantage of this milestone to take a quick look in the rearview mirror.

Here we are in 2024, and as we look back, what an adventure! We would never have thought that this project initiated in the summer of 2015 would grow to the scale of the range you know today, almost 10 years later. There's so much to say, so much to tell! We’ll do our best to retrace the broad outlines, which will inevitably be reductive, but will have the merit of giving newcomers a glimpse of the Fateforge adventure.

The early days

At the time, in France, there were no translations for Dungeons & Dragons, and the SRD for the 5th edition - the reference document backed by the OGL license, allowing third-party publishers to produce content - was still a long way off. Yet things were changing behind the scenes, and by summer 2015 we were gearing up for an official announcement. When the new OGL was finally released, we announced a French-language fundraising campaign for the project that would eventually become Fateforge.

One of the very first visuals made by Gawain in 2015 - 2016 ^^

During this first period of the project, we surrounded ourselves with a historic team that previously worked on the French version of 3rd and 4th editions of D&D. They were responsible for translating the SRD, but also for enhancing it with numerous options, archetypes, and even a new class: the scholar. While I, (Nel), was in charge of editorial, and artistic direction, Doudou became the range coordinator, and remained so until Grimoire. For the illustrations, I called upon the artistic team of The Shadows of Esteren.

One of the illustrations from Aventurers, by Chane

At the same time, I was drawing up the outline of this new world, which I'm calling Eana - for the record, this word is borrowed from the Sami language and means “the earth”. To sum up, the idea was to propose a sword-and-sorcery world incorporating elements of Stargate (yes, the series ^^ ) and emphasize the interstellar aspect, with moons and other planets.

For me, this new project was an opportunity to deal with a number of classic heroic fantasy themes and to revisit and question them, notably by giving the orc, goblin, and other peoples a different role in the story. The main principle here was to reject the notion that these peoples are inherently evil. They have their own civilization: Kaan. The notion of race is done away with and replaced by that of species. On another note, I adapted one of the major mechanics of The Shadows of Esteren to Fateforge: the modular system. In particular, my idea was to be able to modulate the level of magic, notably via the concept of Awakening, and the addition of locks, isolating certain spells. The foundations have been laid, but there's still a long way to go!

The very first version of Eana's map, in French, which we produced in early 2016.

Key personalities

Alongside Doudou's team, focused on the translation, and all the technical aspects of the game, I entrusted Iris, who I had previously tasked to write for The Shadows of Esteren range, with several writing missions, in particular to develop this new world.

Her remarkable work extended over several years, and we owe it all to the community who have made each book a new success, enabling us to continue this long-term work. I invited many other editors and writers to take part - including Ed Greenwood, the creator of the Forgotten Realms! - and, until the delivery of the Tetralogy in 2021, this whole team was involved in giving Fateforge an extraordinary scope.

Gradually, other personalities took on greater importance in the Fateforge story: Destiny, Laufey, and GinL, who are also part of the studio's in-house team. From 2023 onwards, I entrusted the former with the editorial direction of the range. Destiny became Fateforge's conductor and did an impressive amount of background work on each of the texts, harmonizing, rewriting, and correcting them. It was with her in particular that I imagined the second Tetralogy and the continuation of the range.

She has been assisted in this task by Laufey, Fateforge’s coordinator and editor. Finally, I entrusted artistic direction to GinL, who until now has been the range's layout and graphic designer. With GinL, we thought up the form and themes, and she currently oversees a large number of talented illustrators.

The arrival of the English version

But let's take a step back in time. In 2019, Fateforge was offered to the English-speaking public for the first time. An initial kickstarter was launched, and convinced over 1,700 backers to support the adventure. The first two books, Adventurers and Grimoire, were released a few months later, at GenCon, to enthusiastic acclaim.

In 2020, we offered the first follow-up to our range, Creatures. This toolbox, featuring over 200 monsters, achieved incredible funding, the biggest for our studio. It was beaten the following year by Encyclopedia, which, with over 8300 backers, shed unprecedented light on Fateforge. Creatures 2, Encyclopedia 2, and the VTT adaptation followed, confirming your commitment to our project!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you once again. Without you, this adventure would not be possible!

A team effort

I feel very fortunate to have been able to work with such talented people, who were able to develop my initial creation into a work of such depth and scope. In many respects, the quality of the final result exceeds anything I could have hoped or imagined, be it the texts, illustrations, or layout.

This teamwork brought together dozens of people, including Nicola Bernardelli who, since Creatures 2, has been the flagship illustrator of the range, following in the footsteps of Gawain and Chane. It would be difficult to name everyone, but I must mention the studio's historic translator, Clovis, and the team of English-speaking proofreaders, notably Tyson Pink and Hunter Prigg. As well as being an excellent translator, Clovis also produced texts for the range. Hats off also to Arthur Camboly, who has been doing great work on the range for several years.

It was to the translation and proofreading team that I dedicated the ENNIE Award for Best Writing we received at Gencon 2022, consecrating the English version of the Tetralogy. The following year, the range won another ENNIE Award, this time in the Best Adversary category, in recognition of the work of an entire team on the second volume of Creatures, dedicated to the Netherworld. On this occasion, Destiny and GinL took to the ENNIES stage, making them the first French women designers to achieve this feat!

GinL & Destiny, just after the Ennies Award ceremony!
Thanks to Thomas who immortalized this historic moment!

With that, we arrive in 2024, and a new chapter begins for the Fateforge range. This range has already had a unique journey and, a fact rare enough to be highlighted in role-playing circles, is now run by three women. Fateforge will continue to grow, thanks to the community!

🔮 NEXT STEPS: GRIMOIRE 2, VIDEO GAME, SOLO PRG, AND BOARD GAME

Throughout 2024, we've been hard at work, with the team working on several projects. Here is what's in store for you in the near future, probably early 2025. I can already hear the most enthusiastic of you being impatient. I don't blame you! However, we really want to arrive at the fund-raising portions of the campaigns with the most complete projects possible. In this way, the community helps us by financing the manufacturing process, and any surplus money finances future projects.

So without further ado...

🧙 Grimoire 2: Secrets of Magic

This seventh opus follows up from Encyclopedia 2 and will offer you over 150 new spells, new archetypes, new geomagic rules, and several key elements on the arcana of Eana magic. ... Grimoire 2 promises to be a major book in the range! If you don't want to miss the Kickstarter launch, go to this address. The launch is scheduled for early 2025, when we'll have made good progress on the final stages of development. In the meantime, here are a few key points from the book:

- Learn to cast over 150 new spells, focusing on the special magic of the deep, and the corrupting power of the Canker!
- Choose a new archetype for your spellcaster, such as a druid from the circle of Eana's roots or a spellcaster from the Abyss!
- Explore three mage lairs full of treasure and traps!
- Will you be able to resist the temptation of the assets offered by the Sublime, or will you give in to sublimation?
- Discover the mysteries of Eana's divine magic!
- Equip your adventurers with 50 new magical items!
- Learn to enchant objects and concoct potions!

And here's an extract from the cover by Antonio De Luca:

🏮Echoes in the Deep: A Fateforge Tale

This exploration of the depths of the Free City, will be offered in the form of a Solo RPG and a visual novel. The two stories will be independent but connected, offering solo immersion in the underground of Eana's largest city. Both projects will benefit from a Kickstarter campaign offering both French and English versions. The visual novel also has its own Steam page, so get your wishlists ready!

Here's some more information about the Solo RPG. We presented it at last year's GenCon, and the audience was very enthusiastic!

- Experience a complete 5e solo campaign in the underground of Free City!
- Recruit allies to help you complete perilous missions! Upgrade your equipment as you succeed!
- Expand your influence on the city by enhancing your reputation!

🚧 THE REST OF THE RANGE: SECOND TETRALOGY AND BEYOND

Beyond these projects, we're also working on what's next. Here's a glimpse of what's to come after Grimoire 2:

🌙 “Moons” project

This eighth opus brings the second Tetralogy to a close. With this work, the basic structure of Fateforge will be laid. A new boxed set will be produced for the occasion, following the design of the first, and featuring the four covers of this second Tetralogy. This book invites you to leave the surface of Eana and explore the celestial, diabolical, demonic, and dream realms. It features over 120 creatures (celestials, fiends, Nightmare ravagers, and spirits), a collection of magical items, and dedicated rules for your extra-planar travels. You'll also be able to discover the secrets of Eana's great exiled antagonists, such as the archdevil Anthéros, and of the Forge of Destiny nestled in the heart of her labyrinth!

In the coming months, we'll be telling you more about this book, but for now here's a visual, Karathaan, the warlord, and evil hospodar illustrated by Nicola Bernardelli :

This warrior and strategist loves nothing more than tactics and well-executed battles. He can't wait to unleash his armies in places other than the Furnace, so he can finally put his own power to the test.

⛵FATEFORGE: DISCOVERING MULTIPLE UNIVERSES

Since 2022, the Fateforge adventure has also been an opportunity to discover multiple colorful universes. And it's something that's linked to the very essence of this world and the Ateaks, its famous Stargate-inspired portals ^^.

Starting with Draconis: Call of Adventure, which launches its first Kickstarter campaign on October 22: a feel-good world where you'll become the friend of dragons! Based on the magnificent artbooks by artist Chane, a peaceful, luminous universe that speaks to many of you :)
Your adventurers need a little vacation between two epic campaigns to save the world, so now's the time to send them off to discover a benevolent new universe, with plenty of new options for 5E ^^

📢 SURVEY: TAKE PART IN BUILDING THE FUTURE!

I've already told you about the whole team that has been working together for almost 10 years to bring you Fateforge. But let's not forget one major player in this great adventure: you, the community!

From the outset, I've been passionate about involving the community through surveys. The results are the voice of this community, and they help shape the future of the range. When we have to make an important decision, it's as if we had an extra person at the table, embodied by these results: you, the community.

The future of Fateforge looks exciting. The only problem is that we probably won't be able to do everything. Our studio may have grown, but it's still a small team. Stay tuned, as we'll probably be issuing a call for applications for quite a few roles in the near future. But back to the survey: it would be very useful if every member of the community could give their opinion and help us identify your expectations, why, and your expectations for the future.

If you're a backer, we've opened a survey to find out what you'd like to see in the future. There, you will find a link in the latest Fateforge update. If you didn't receive this news, please send us a message to Support.

See you soon for the next step of the adventure :)
